"Stressed Spelled Backwards is Desserts!"
For many of us, it is an all-too-familiar sensation: feeling fit to burst after a big meal but somehow finding room for dessert. Talking about cakes as the favorite dessert, you would be surprised to know that ancient Egyptians were the first culture to show evidence of advanced baking skills.
Also, Cheese and cheese products had mostly been around for thousands of years, even earlier than prehistory! Cheesecake being the brilliant desert mostly believed to have its origin in new york but it actually dates back much further. The fact is, that because cheesecake has been around for so long, and in so many different variations, the exact origin may be difficult to track.
Cheesecake is believed to have originated in ancient Greece. Historians say cheesecake was served to the athletes during the first Olympic Games held in 776 B.C. Greek brides and grooms were also known to use cheesecake as a wedding cake. The Greeks had been serving the cheesecake for over 2000 years constructed from basic ingredients such as flour, wheat, honey, and cheese. Romans after conquering Greece modified cheesecake by including crushed cheese n egg and called it as Libum or 'Placenta' otherwise, cream cheese was American addition to the cake.
As the Romans expanded their empire, they brought cheesecake recipes to the Europeans. Great Britain and Eastern Europe began experimenting with ways to put their own unique spin on cheesecake. In each country of Europe, the recipes started taking on different cultural shapes, using ingredients native to each region.
It was not until the 18th century, however, that cheesecake would start to look like something we recognize in the United States
From its earliest recorded beginnings on Samos over 4,000 years ago to its current iconic status around the world this creamy cake remains a favorite for sweet tooths of all ages.
